You must submit your application for admission and supporting materials by the deadline to receive full consideration for the term in which you want to begin attending IU Fort Wayne.

• For fall semester: August 1 (June 1 for scholarship eligibility)
• For spring semester: December 15
• For summer session I: May 1
• For summer session II: June 12

The admission standards you must meet to transfer to IU Fort Wayne depend on how many transferable credit hours you’ve earned at your current college or other colleges you’ve attended. These are the minimum requirements for transferring to IU Fort Wayne; most admitted students exceed these standards.

If you have at least 26 transferable credit hours:

If you have completed at least 26 transferable credit hours at another college or university, you must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and be eligible to return to your previous college in order to transfer to IU Fort Wayne. If you don’t meet these standards, you must sit out for one semester (not including summer sessions) before you can transfer to IU Fort Wayne.

If you have fewer than 26 transferable credit hours:

If you’ve completed fewer than 26 transferable credit hours at another college or university, the admission standards you must meet depend on whether you would have qualified for admission to IU Fort Wayne as an incoming freshman.

• If you would not have qualified for admission as an incoming freshman, you must complete 26 transferable credit hours of coursework with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 at your current college before you can transfer to IU Fort Wayne. (The 26 transferable credit hours cannot include any dual-credit courses or college courses completed while you were in high school.) You must also complete any remedial coursework required by your current college.
• If you would have qualified for admission as an incoming freshman, you must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and be eligible to return to your previous college in order to transfer to IU Fort Wayne. If you don’t meet these standards, you must sit out for one semester (not including summer sessions) before you can transfer to IU Fort Wayne.

IU Fort Wayne awards transfer credit for coursework completed at an institution outside of the Indiana University system. As part of the application process, we’ll review your coursework from other institutions and decide whether you’ll get credit for it at IU Fort Wayne.

When you fill out your application, you’ll be asked to choose an intended major. If you know what you’d like to major in, select that major.

The first step in the application process is to complete the undergraduate admission application. You’ll need to create a guest computing account that you’ll use solely to submit your application.

Apply online

When you submit your application, you must pay a $65 nonrefundable application fee. If you apply online, you can pay the fee with a credit card at the time you submit your application.

You do not have to pay the application fee if:

• You are transferring to IU Fort Wayne from an IU or Purdue campus.
• You have earned an associate degree from Ivy Tech Community College or Vincennes University.
• You are currently enrolled at Ivy Tech Community College or Vincennes University and have completed at least 45 credit hours.

As part of the application process, you must provide an official transcript from each college or university you’ve attended. This includes:

• Transcripts from any college or university at which you were enrolled but did not complete any classes
• Transcripts from any dual-credit courses or college courses completed while you were in high school

If you have fewer than 26 hours of transferable credit, you must also provide your official high school transcript.

Electronic transcripts

IU Fort Wayne can accept official transcripts that are sent electronically from colleges and universities. However, we do not accept emailed PDFs of transcripts; your transcript must be electronically generated from an official system.

Electronic transcripts can be sent to fwcredit@iu.edu. If your school will be sending limited-time credentials that allow us to access their system, be sure to make your request during regular business hours.

As part of IU Fort Wayne’s commitment to maintaining a safe campus community, you must disclose on your application for admission if you:

• Have been subject to formal disciplinary action (including, but not limited to, suspension or expulsion) for academic or nonacademic reasons at any high school, postsecondary institution, college, or university.
• Have been charged or convicted of a crime (or a foreign legal equivalent) that has not been expunged by a court.
• Have any currently pending criminal charges (or a foreign legal equivalent) against you.
• Have engaged in any behavior that caused injury to any person(s) or property (including, but not limited to, vandalism or behavior that led to a restraining order against you) that resulted in some form of discipline or intervention.

You will not automatically be denied admission to IU Fort Wayne if you have a previous conviction or disciplinary action, but your application must be reviewed by the Admissions Committee before an admission decision is made. It can take up to four to six weeks for the Admissions Committee to review applicants with disclosures.

Complete the Prior Conduct Information and Release form

Approximately two weeks after we receive your application, you’ll get an email with your University ID number. You’ll use this ID number to create your IU computing account, which you’ll use to check the status of your application.

Please note that your IU computing account is different than the guest computing account you created when you applied online. The guest computing account was solely for the purpose of submitting your application online.

Setting up your IU computing account

1. Search for and select “Create My First IU Account” in One.IU.
2. Read the Guidelines for Appropriate Usage, which are rules and policies for IT account use at IU, and agree to these policies.
3. Enroll in the Passphrase Self-Service Reset System. If you forget your passphrase, this tool will enable you to reset it yourself without having to visit a UITS Support Center walk-in location in person.
4. You will want to save or record your account information in a secure place. You will need this information each time you log in to your IU computing account.
5. Exit. It may take up to two hours before you can log in to some services.

What to do if you have forgotten your ID or other information

• Forgot your 10-digit University ID number? All other students should first try the Student Self-Service University Lookup Form. If you still need assistance, please email the Office of Admissions at fwadmit@iu.edu. (In order to help you, we will request additional information.)
• Forgot your username? Contact the UITS Support Center.
• Forgot your passphrase? Reset it here.

Please note that if you have ever previously been enrolled in or participated in a program at any IU campus and were given a 10-digit University ID number and username, you will use the same ID number and username to access your IU computing account (or use the steps above to set up your computing account if you have not already done so).

After you’ve created your IU computing account, you’ll be able to check the status of your application in One.IU. To check your status, go to Application Status in One.IU and select "Start." Log in using your IU username and passphrase (not your guest account information) to see the status of your application.

You can use our application update form to:

• Reactivate a previously withdrawn application
• Change your intended major
• Change your start date
• Change your address
• Change your phone number
• Change your email address
