IU Fort Wayne offers several Continuing Education courses for dental professionals. Registration for each course is processed through IU Conferences, via the provided links below, and conducted on the IU Fort Wayne campus by Certified Dental Assisting Program faculty.
Coronal Polishing and Fluoride Application Course
The Coronal Polishing and Fluoride Application courses consist of didactic instruction that takes place via our online learning management system, Canvas, and in-person laboratory requirements on peers. All clinical requirements must be completed in the participant’s dental practice. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate of completion for each course.
Participants must have completed the online course requirements, via Canvas, prior to attending the in-person laboratory instruction.
Course Requirements: Participants must be a graduate of a CODA-accredited program, or a practicing chairside dental assistant (general dentistry) for a minimum of three (3) years. Proof of program completion and/or proof of employment is required before course material can be accessed.

Expanded Functions (Restorative) Course for Allied Dental Professionals
The Indiana State Board of Dentistry allows licensed dentists to delegate restorative duties to a Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) Certified Dental Assistant (CDA). This course provides the didactic, laboratory, and pre-clinical training necessary for competency.
Attendance is mandatory at each session to receive the completion certificate. Upon successful completion, the CDA may use the Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) credential.
Course Requirements:Participants must be a graduate of a CODA-accredited program, or a practicing chairside dental assistant (general dentistry) for a minimum of three (3) years. Proof of program completion and/or proof of employment is required before course material can be accessed.

Orthodontic Clinician Course
This in-depth course includes didactic instruction on Orthodontic procedures, tooth morphology, and occlusion, as well as laboratory and clinical instruction.
Course Requirements: Participants must be a graduate of a CODA-accredited program, or a practicing chairside dental assistant (general dentistry) for a minimum of three (3) years. Proof of program completion and/or proof of employment is required before course material can be accessed.
- Registration Fee: $625
- Type of payment accepted: Credit Card Only
- Cancellation policy: No refund if course materials have been accessed; if cancelling prior to accessing course material, full refund MINUS a $100 service charge.
