Description of the video:

Greetings and welcome to the IU Fort Wayne Graduation Celebration.   My name is Ann Obergfell and I am the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Operations at IU Fort Wayne.   It is my distinct honor and privilege to celebrate and congratulate all students graduating from the Fort Wayne campus with a degree from Indiana University as well as our legacy Nursing students who graduate with a degree from Purdue.
The Fort Wayne campus is unique in that while IU Fort Wayne and Purdue Fort Wayne are distinct institutions we live and work together to provide high quality educational experiences for students on our campus.
Today we recognize the following groups:
From the IU School of Dentistry, we recognize; students graduating in Spring and Summer with a Certificate in Dental Assisting,   Candidates for the Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and the first students to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Technology.
From the IU School of Medicine, we celebrate the students completing the Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging degree as well as the Doctor of Medicine graduates from the Fort Wayne campus.
From the IU School of Nursing, we celebrate the RN to BSN graduates who are receiving their IU degree as well as the Legacy Nursing students, taught so brilliantly by the IUFW School of Nursing faculty, who are receiving their degree from Purdue University.
From the IU School of Social Work, we recognize the Master of Social Work graduates who studied on the Fort Wayne campus.
Finally yet importantly, we celebrate those students who are completing degrees from Indiana University delivered by our colleagues at Purdue Fort Wayne.   These students are part of the teach out following the realignment of IPFW and come from the College of Arts and Sciences, the Doermer School of Business, the College of Professional Studies and the College of Visual and Performing Arts.  They too are part of our IU family.
I would like to thank Dave Chappell, Marissa Melchi, Jake Huffman and Brandon Kuntz for creating this celebration as well as the IU Fort Wayne leadership and the Purdue Fort Wayne Deans who contributed their words of wisdom and congratulations to the graduates.  And I would be remiss if I did not recognize the faculty and staff on the Fort Wayne campus from both IU and Purdue who have guided and supported these students through their academic journey
Congratulations IU Bicentennial class of 2020.   This is your day - Celebrate

Description of the video:

Hello to family, friends and the 2020 IU Fort Wayne Certified Dental Assisting Program Graduates. It's my pleasure to welcome each of you to this virtual graduation address and thank you for joining the faculty in recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of each of the 25 members of the Class of 2020. Well done, Graduates! We are proud of you and your accomplishments and are delighted to count you as our dental assisting colleagues. We hope to hold an actual ceremony for our 2020 graduates later this year. But until then, we'd like to offer you some food for thought as you begin your career journey. >>The difference between school and life is in school, you're taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you're given a test that teaches you a lesson. Not only are you all great dental assistants, but you're amazing human beings. Keep up your skills to better yourself in both aspects of your life. I love you and I'm so proud of each and every one of you. >> Whenever you find yourself doubting how far you can go, just remember how far you have come. Remember everything you have faced, all the battles you have won and all the fears you have overcome. Congratulations on your well deserved success. I'm proud of you! >> Failure is merely a dress rehearsal for future success. Know that there will be times that you may fail, but don't let those failures define you. Only your successes. Remember this: The same boiling water that softens a potato, hardens the egg. It's about what you are made of, not the circumstances. Congratulations, class of 2020! >> You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. And always remember, you are not the free salsa and chips! You are guacamole! >> Always remember, our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous... actually, who are you not to be? So go out and do that! Be fabulous, be gorgeous, be brilliant. You are, and you have proven yourselves worthy to be graduates of our program. Do no harm; do good, be honest and fair; and make good choices.

Dental Hygiene, BSDH

Indiana University School of Dentistry, Fort Wayne campus is proud to present the Dental Hygiene graduating class of 2020. Congratulations Class of 2020, we are proud of you!

Message from Jennifer Bryant

Description of the video:

To the dental hygiene class of 2020:
You have seen many changes in your academic career. Many of which were new and unexpected. Things that had not been experienced on any campus. You were here through branding the dental programs to IUFW and becoming IU School of Dentistry Fort Wayne campus. You were the first to trust electronic health records and some of you even helped us, as faculty, learn AxiUm. Now you are set to be the last dental hygiene class to graduate Purdue University Fort Wayne with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene.
This last semester of your journey added even more unknowns, and some things we are still uncertain.  And you continued in your journey, not giving up.  Through this, the program’s focus has been your education and ensuring your competence in providing dental hygiene care. We continued to focus on student learning as the guiding value in our mission. We are excited to see you become dental healthcare professionals.
There have been good times and tough times, you laughed and cried together. You leaned on one another when you just did not have it in you. There have been celebrations with weddings and babies. In the end, you rallied together, supporting each other through the program. Little did we know how your senior year would end, the first class to endure a pandemic!  You have made memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.  I encourage you to remain in contact with one another and with us at IUFW. I will miss your smiling faces and hellos in the hallways and clinic.
Congratulations on your hard work throughout your schooling; you have worked relentlessly and deserve praise.  Your perseverance through your education is evidence of your ability to adapt to an ever-changing world. You will practice as dental healthcare professionals in a new world of dentistry.
I have witnessed your strength and kindness. I wish you the best in your endeavors and I hope you embrace dentistry in this new chapter of your lives and enjoy it as I have. I wish you the very best in everything you do.
Congratulations to the Dental Hygiene Class of 2020.

The faculty of the IU Fort Wayne Dental Technology program are so proud of the first graduating cohort of the Bachelor of Science in Dental Technology. Congratulations Class of 2020!

Message from Brooke Pratt

Description of the video:

Congratulations Class of 2020.
You are the 45th graduating class of Dental Technology and the first to graduate with the Bachelor of Science in dental technology. What an amazing accomplishment!
Soon you will graduate armed with the skills and knowledge you’ve attained and your professors know you are ready to tackle the next phase in your careers, whatever it might be.
For some, you will move on to dental school, or med school, while others are heading straight to the workforce with hopes of becoming lab owners and leaders in the industry. I hope you all continue to work your hardest and to take every learning opportunity that comes your way.
Our industry is rapidly changing and the learning will never stop. Take the knowledge you have gained and continue to push your selves to the highest level possible. This is not an end to your education, it is only the beginning.
But whatever direction you take, I guarantee you will leave an impact on the field of dental technology and dentistry as a whole.
So take those risks.
Set outrageous goals.
And navigate those detours that inevitably pop up, like fires and pandemics, and learn from them.
Promise me to always pick up your bucket of happiness when times seem hard. Those are the times when you will find out who you really are. We already know what you are capable of, don’t let yourself forget!
We miss you and love you and wish you well until we can all be together again.
Congratulations again to the first graduating cohort for the Bachelor of Science in Dental Technology.
