Professor Bassett graduated from Western Governors University with a Masters in Nursing Leadership and Management in 2014. She is a current graduate student at IUPUI and will graduate in May of 2021 with her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. Bassett has over 10 years of experience as a staff nurse and in leadership roles including management. Her clinical background includes neonatal intensive care, postpartum, newborn nursery, skilled rehabilitation, and long-term care. She currently teaches Health Care Delivery Systems and Leadership in Heath Care and Policy. Her interest in Health Policy led to her service as the legislative liaison for the Fort Wayne campus. Bassett also has a passion for serving others internationally. With two colleagues, she coordinates a global experience for selected students to the Dominican Republic to provide much needed care to their underserved communities. Her research interests include incorporating active learning strategies within the classroom, the impact of leadership when applying systems thinking to organizations, and the utilization of dedicated education units as an innovative clinical model to improve nursing education in the clinical setting.
