I graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with a B.S. in Nursing in 2006, and earned my MSN in Nursing Leadership and Management in 2016 from Western Governors University. I have over 10 years of experience as a staff nurse and charge nurse in several clinical areas including Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Newborn Nursery, Pacemaker/ICD Clinic, and Neonatal Intensive Care. I teach the senior-level Leadership in Nursing course and Caring for Children clinicals. I have also taught sections of Medical/Surgical Nursing, OB clinical, and the RN-BS Capstone courses. My research interests relate to interprofessional education, collaborative practice, and leadership. I am interested in examining the impact that leadership skills/styles and emotional intelligence have on interprofessional communication and looking at ways simulation can enhance student competence in collaborative practice. I have been accepted to the Ph.D. in Nursing Science program at Indiana University and will begin May 2019.
