IU Fort Wayne Academic Leadership Award

The IU Fort Wayne Academic Leadership Award is a renewable, admissions-based scholarship awarded to high-achieving high school seniors planning to attend IU Fort Wayne for Fall 2022.

Scholarship criteria

  • Possess a 4.0 GPA or higher (on a 4-point scale) at the date of application
  • Admitted to IU Fort Wayne as of April 1
  • Admission-based awards require full-time, degree-seeking enrollment status
  • Submit two letters of recommendation
    • One letter of recommendation reflecting academic ability
    • One letter of recommendation reflecting demonstrated examples of leadership
  • Submit a required essay on leadership and personal growth

Students must submit their scholarship application and all supplemental materials by June 15. 

The scholarship committee will holistically review all applications and inform scholarship recipients of their decision by June 30. 

Letters of recommendation information

  • One letter reflecting academic ability
    • Recommender must be a teacher or school counselor – excluding family members – who is familiar with the student’s academic background and skill
    • Letter length: minimum of 300 words and maximum of 400 words
    • Letter must be submitted in Word or PDF format
    • Letter must be emailed to fwadmit@iufw.edu
      • Use the following email subject line - Academic Leadership Award
    • Letter is due by June 15
  • One letter reflecting leadership
    • Recommender must be a community member – excluding family members -- who is familiar with the student’s character and leadership abilities
    • Letter length: minimum of 300 words and maximum of 400 words
    • Letter must be submitted in Word or PDF format
    • Letter must be emailed to fwadmit@iufw.edu
